Fon Browndy is the Organisational Culture, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Lead at Wellcome Trust, and her work is focused on embedding equitable and inclusive practice across all of Wellcome's internal systems and processes.
Fon leads a Team that works on a range of initiatives aimed at making Wellcome a fairer and more inclusive employer, with workstreams centring anti-racism and anti-ableism, organisation-wide policy review, inclusive recruitment, reducing Wellcome's gender and ethnicity pay gaps and providing Management and Leadership support for building diverse and inclusive teams.
Fon is evangelical about building healthy organisational cultures and has a background in people development, having worked in People / HR Teams for almost 15 years. Fon is a qualified Management Coach and as part of this learning and development journey Fon has also lead strategic programmes on social responsibility, as well as community and volunteer engagement. A significant example of this work saw Fon managing a Respite Centre for 10 weeks serving overwhelmed NHS staff during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, leading close to 100 volunteers who provided care and comfort to key workers during this crisis.
In her previous professional lives Fon has worked for the NHS as a Senior Administrator and spent 10 years working for the University of London as a Staff Developer. Fon embarked on her first leadership role as Head of Educational Programmes and Professional Development at an education charity, managing a programme of international educational conferences and events with a portfolio including events in Kenya, Belgium, Canada, Norway and DC. Fon has also worked as a Senior L&D Adviser at a large Cancer Charity managing the national training programme for thousands of volunteers across the UK.
